Strategic Direction and Subdivision

Plan Change 148 proposes to introduce new Subdivision and Strategic Direction Chapters. The addition of these chapters is a requirement under the Draft National Planning Standards.

Strategic Direction (SD)

This plan change seeks to introduce a new chapter in the Plan to outline the Strategic Direction and significant resource management issues for Whangarei District. Objectives and Policies are proposed at a district-wide strategic level.
The plan change relies upon national and regional policy direction and the Sub-Regional Growth Strategy, Sustainable Futures 30/50.

Why?

The draft National Planning Standards require a Strategic Direction Section.

  • District wide, strategic objectives and policies.

Subdivision (SUB)

This plan change also seeks to introduce a new Subdivision chapter in the Plan to consolidate all objectives, policies and rules relating to the subdivision of land.
Each zone proposed within the Urban and Services Plan Change package includes proposed objectives, policies and rules applying specifically to subdivision in the zone.

Why?

The draft National Planning Standards require a single Subdivision chapter.
